URSE

Urse is the artist name of painter Jeroen Bostoen (°1974).

He does not necessarily paint reality but rather what could be, creating mysterious images with an unfathomable, alienating character.

They are as it were collages of moments stuck in his own chaotic library of images. Some are more conceptual than others.

As a child, he was always in his father’s studio where he could and was allowed to experiment with all kinds of materials. From stained glass, ceramics to bronze... eventually painting turned out to be his real medium.

"Being able to lose yourself so hard in that search for that right image, the right emotion is a great feeling. To feel 'the king' one moment and 'an amateur' the next is indescribable and ultimately why I do this."

His work has already been shown at several exhibitions throughout Flanders and Brussels.
